10 Recipes You Need to Make for Mother’s Day

10 Recipes You Need to Make for Mother's Day

Growing up, I always knew I wanted to be a mom. I was holding babies in the nursery at church before I was technically allowed to do so (the longtime nursery boss let me in early), and I was a certified babysitter by the age of 12. Like, I took a class at the hospital and everything. I was bona fide. So it was of a bit of surprise that I didn’t end up becoming a mom until my early 30’s, but I wouldn’t change anything, because I wouldn’t have my Vida and Josh. Being their momma is the greatest joy of my life.

Mother’s Day is this weekend, and honestly I hadn’t realized it until a couple of days ago when my own mom gave me a Mother’s Day card because she was going to be out of town on the actual day. Cue guilty daughter moment. So, for any other last-minute planners out there (I’m not alone, right?), here are 10 recipes that you should make for the mother in your life this weekend. Or if you’re a mother, casually share this post with your family as a not-so-subtle hint to cook up something special for you. Michael, any of these would make me happy, but take special note of number 6. HINT, HINT. ๐Ÿ˜‰

3. Raspberry Apple Smoothie by Jessica Gavin

This past March I had the chance to meet my friend Jessica Gavin in real life (as opposed to online), and she was gracious enough to host me as a guest in her home. I got to see her mom skills in action, and she’s amazing. This smoothie has been on my must make list for a while, can’t wait to give it a go!

4. Whole Grain Meyer Lemon Scones

Meyer lemons might be tough to come by this late in the year, but regular lemons will work great too! If cashews aren’t an option for you, canned coconut milk is a fantastic and tasty alternative. These come together super quick for all you procrastinators.

5. Raw Vegan Carrot Cake from The Blenderist

Carrot cake lovers, rejoice! Here’s a no bake option from my pal Jasmine at The Blenderist that’s super popular and healthy to boot. I’m really getting hungry now.

6. Vegan No Bake Peanut Butter Pie from Food with Feeling

Ok, Brita, you had me at peanut butter. Then you go and put it on a purple background. Double sold. Not to hmention, you have a cool alliterative blog name, Food with Feeling. Triple threat. ๐Ÿ™‚

Vegan Banana Coconut Stuffed Pancakes - the banana is IN BETWEEN the pancakes, no gummy insides!

7. Banana Coconut Stuffed Pancakes

Some very early EWYM photography here, but this recipe holds a special place in my heart, because it was one of my first posts here on Ye Olde Blog, and Michael made them for me on Mother’s Day with Vida after I posted them. Happy momma memories. ๐Ÿ™‚

8. Almond Chocolate Raspberry Tart by Green Healthy Cooking

I really can’t stop looking at this photo from my pal Lorena at Green Healthy Cooking! I just planted two raspberry plants, and I wish they had ripe berries ready to go RIGHT NOW. Thank goodness for supermarkets. Go to your nearest raspberry purveyor and make this for your momma!

9. Strawberry Nettle Iced Tea by Rhubarbarians

Ok, first of all, let’s just talk about how my buddy Trish has the best blog name ever. Rhubarbarians. I mean, come on. I just love it. I’m super intrigued by this beautiful drink, and can’t wait to give it a try. It wins points on prettiness alone.

10. Apple Pie Waffles

These are definitely more of a typical fall item, but I think apple pie is a year-round classic. If you can’t find apple cider at this time of year (not surprising), apple juice will work just fine. They’re worth making for the apple of your eye. (whomp whomp)

Happy Mother’s Day!

Ok, there you have it! There are all kinds of mothers, and all of them eat (I hope), so do them a solid and make them something special this Sunday! Or, Monday, or Tuesday, or any old day, because, let’s be clichรฉ about it, every day is Mother’s Day. Now if you’ll excuse me, there’s sure to be someone around here whose diaper needs changing.

Happy Mother’s Day to all who mother. You are amazing.

Hi Sophie! The font is called Playlist Script, and I made this image on Canva.com (which is where I found the font). Hope that helps! ๐Ÿ™‚
